Amazon’s Prime Now one-hour delivery service is launching?restaurant delivery today in Portland, Ore., a little more than a month after the restaurant service debuted in?Amazon’s hometown of Seattle.

Amazon’s ascension as a corporate and retail titan has entire industries trembling at mere rumors that the company is moving into new markets. Bloomberg technology columnist Shira Ovide studies how that came to pass, by the numbers, in a new piece titled, “How Amazon Became Corporate America’s Nightmare.”

Amazon’s drone efforts date back to 2013 when Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos?revealed plans for delivery drones on 60 Minutes. But seven years later the company has yet to officially launch a widespread commercial delivery drone service, only doing?small tests?in the meantime.

Among recently lost-and-found records are those from a controversial 2004-06 deployment to Iraq. The logs could shed light on whether the dispatch was to a "noncombat" zone as asserted by the government at the time, in line with constitutional limits on military activities abroad.

Amazon’s spend included affiliated companies such as Diapers.com and Zappos.
